How does UV-C work?

When UV-C light enters a microorganism, it breaks down the DNA connections. This changes the genetic properties of the cell, so that the microorganisms can no longer multiply. Simply put, microorganisms are killed.

A microorganism is too small to be seen with the naked eye. This includes all single-cell organisms such as bacteria, mould and viruses.

A UV-C device contains a UV-C lamp. This lamp emits Ultra violet light. When algae are exposed to this light, they will die immediately. This prevents or thus solves the problem of a green pond. When the water flows past the UV light, all organisms are killed. So no distinction is made between good and bad organisms.
